I'm concerned about a few of the sweetgums near my home. There are 2 trees with 4 main trunks each very close to my house in an un-removable area (mobile home park). Neighbor is 20' away, and the trees are probably 35-45' tall between the two trailers. Several of the leaves have fallen within the past 2 weeks, and it seems to be a bit early for them to be falling. The neighbor had some idiot seal her roof for her last year, and I noticed that he pruned several of the branches improperly (not at the branch collar)...

Could someone please ID the problem with these leaves so I can come up with a solution?

I have never taken a soil sample, since it is not my land.

If some kind of fungus, insect, or something treatable, I am licensed for commercial contracting with restricted chemicals, and I have a skid sprayer that can create high pressure when agitation is turned off.

If it is a bacterial or viral infection, I would like to address the problem to the trailer park owner, so he knows it now and I can document it before the trees fall on my house....

If it is not a worry, please let me know that too!

Thank you!

A dependable, rugged in-the-row tillage tool for growers using smaller tractors. The new Model 4200 Weed Badger is a major breakthrough for growers using 18 to 30 HP tractors. This rugged precision in-row tiller is designed and built to the same rigid standards as its big brother the famous Weed Badger
Weedbadger dot com has all the details about this unit, I have a used implement that I am accepting offers on. The unit was over $6,000 new and is in perfect working condition, it is only a few years old and has seen very minimal use. It is an excellent tool for in row cultivation and weed control with minimal labor. Call Jeremy with any questions 708.258.9610

Guys--
Great article in Aug/Sept. issue of tree Services magazine about balance rigging. Recommends several useful tools but omits a tool for placing and retrieval of ropes from the critical outer limb area in a balance operation. Should have mentioned a pole pruner or one of two tools such as the Re-Treever (or) my personal favorite, the stouter more rugged Sidekick, desighned to place and retrieve ropes from difficult and (or) dangerous areas within the tree. Check your major supply catalogs such as Bailey's, Wesspur, American arborist or treestuff.com for these tools---and read that article carefully. Efficiency is key to profit and safety is job one.

When we got to the property it was laying in the neighbors driveway on top of their car. The base of the tree looks like it just came unglued. My question:
What causes this to happen?
